The history of the First Baptist Church of Farmers Branch runs deep into the soil of the North Texas region. When the state of Texas was in its infancy, settlers came to this area through the auspices of the Peters Colony Company, whose headquarters were in the middle of what is now church property. Hard on the heels of those first settlers were the missionaries who first preached the Christian gospel in this area. David Myers came as a young man from Illinois, and by 1846 had established the first Baptist church in the Dallas area. This church made its home on land donated by the pioneering Keenan family, land upon which the current church resides.

Not many years after its establishment, the fledgling Christian community had moved farther north to Carrollton, but by 1870 some of those first believers had re-established a Baptist Christian witness in Farmers Branch.

Since February 1870 until the present day, First Baptist Church of Farmers Branch has maintained a faithful Christian witness in this community and around the world. We have seen the boom of post-WWII growth and the challenge of a community in transition. At the beginning of the twenty-first century, the congregation looks forward to the responsibilities that God gives her as she faces even more change with new faces and new ways of living. With gratitude for her heritage and hope for the future, FBC Farmers Branch is eagerly embracing the challenges that the new day brings. This church of history, heritage, and hope invites you to join us on the journey of faithfulness to Christ that began over 135 years ago and continues today.
